If your fans keep closing or your sets don’t look clean…
it’s not always your technique 👀
Here are 3 common reasons most lash techs overlook:
1. Your lashes are too stiff or inconsistent
Not all lash trays behave the same.
If the strip is too hard or the lashes aren’t flexible enough, your fans will collapse quickly.
👉 Try softer lashes that hold shape more easily (especially 0.03 / 0.05)
2. Your prep isn’t clean enough
Even a small amount of oil or residue can affect how lashes sit and bond.
Make sure:
lashes are properly cleaned
you’re using primer if needed
👉 Clean base = better control + better retention
3. Your pickup & placement angle
If your pickup angle is too flat or uneven, fans won’t stay open.
Small adjustments can make a big difference:
pick from the base
keep symmetry
place gently without squeezing
Fix the basics first 👀
Before blaming your technique, check:
lashes → prep → setup
Most of the time, improving these will fix your fans instantly.
